Type I JIN Japanese Machine Gun The Type 98 machine gun was used as a flexible weapon on Japanese aircraft throughout the war. It was based on the German MG 15, which in turn base based on the Rheinmetall's MG 30 light machine gun. It had a short recoil mechanism and was fed from saddle drum magazines containing 75 rounds. It was one of the few aerial guns used by both the Army and Navy.
